In Memoriam

John Miley

Dickens Fellowship member John Miley recently died peacefully in his sleep in New York. John was 81 years old and was a devoted Fellowship member for many years. In his retirement Mr. Miley continued his excellent work in calligraphy. His estate was generously left in his will to the foundling home where he was placed following his mother's death in childbirth. According to Dickens Fellowship New York president Rose Roberts, John's death was discovered by a friend who found him with a reading lamp on and a copy of Dombey and Son at his side.
