JORDAN L. CERBONE

Fourteen year old Jordan has been passionate about the classics since early childhood.  His favorite author is Charles Dickens whose works he can quote extensively.  An avid reader and writer this homeschooled young man was raised without television.

As a youngster Jordan played in his room while listening to unabridged works of Dickens on CD’s.  Today hundreds of books including The Harvard Classics, Library of America and, of course, Charles Dickens’s works fill Jordan’s bedroom.  Frequent visits to the library and meeting authors still remain his favorite pastime.

“I recall looking up to writers as my role models”, remarked Jordan who aspires to become a published author and university professor, “I hope one day to become president of a branch (of The Dickens Fellowship) or to start a new branch.  As a professor, I would like to inspire the next generation of students to be as enthusiastic about Dickens as I am.”

Joining The Dickens Fellowship of New York is a dream come true for Jordan who is also a member of The Dickens Society of America.  A member of The Waveny Chamber Music Society (New Canaan, CT) Jordan’s hobbies include listening to baroque and classical music, doing community service, playing piano and swimming laps.

“No one is useless in the world who lightens the burden of it for anyone else”

Charles Dickens

The Dickens Fellowship of New York and its members seek to keep the memory and study of Charles Dickens alive in New York City. The organization has aspects of a literary society or book club but includes much more as the name Fellowship implies. Our meetings include social events and group outings.  Members are kept apprised of cultural programs in New York City and the tri-state area that relate to Dickens and his Victorian era. Although we meet all the year round, as befitting Charles Dickens and A Christmas Carol, the Christmas season finds the Fellowship in especially hearty spirits.
